Heritage Festival 2025 Edition Organiser Greenstraw Foundatoin Curator Studio IF The Odkhaan Heritage Festival is a vibrant celebration of Ahmedabad's cultural identity and heritage. The festival's name, "Odkhaan" (ઓળખાણ), means "identity" in Gujarati. The festival is a curated series of activities aimed at showcasing Ahmedabad's rich heritage through various art forms and cultural expressions. For the 2025 edition of the Odkhaan Heritage Festival, Studio IF curated the entire program and designed and set up the exhibition. Interactive ‘Map of Khirsu’ Initital ideas and explorations&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Landscape of Khirsu and Houses were mapped using digital tools and walking around the village. Based on stories of locals,&nbsp; places of significance were identified. First prototype of map was on paper and second was on a fabric dyed using local turmeric to represent contour lines. Using custom circuits, sounds and images were linked to places of significance and made digitally interactive. When a tourist comes to see the map, they can touch to key points and hear&nbsp;teaser information about that place in voices of local kids. The interactive map was fabricated with custom circuit embedded in an exhibition panel. Installation was made waterproof and simpler to operate for easier maintainance by community. &nbsp;&nbsp; 3. Interactive ‘Kuthaar’ The Inspiration In past, community at Khirsu was self relient in terms of agricultural produces. They used to store grains in big wooden boxes called Kuthaar. Over the time agriculture practice has impacted&nbsp; due to climate change and migration of people to cities. Now a days people are not using Kuthaar or repurposing them since they do not store same quantity of grains anymore. We found one such Kuthaar form a family. This box now stores stories instead of grains. Stories of how Khirsu’s natural landscape and life of people are changing together. This installation was not only designed for tourists but it was an asset for future generation of Khirsu. Design Process Insights from the intense field work in Gundiyali, Kutch helped in understanding craft practices - belief and working systems. The research facilitated multiple ideas where new technologies and its applications could be designed for the advantage of craft communities. Entire concept of Kala Kosh was developed using open source tools, digital fabrication, holographic display &amp; custom built 3d scanner and setup. This project is still in development stage and will soon be launched on open source platform so it can be used by any other craft cluster in India. which engages youth in visualizing water heritage and re-imagining sustainable, inclusive and equitable water futures. Through storytelling and technology Living Waters Museum seek to celebrate water wisdom, inspire youth to look at water from an interdisciplinary perspective and co-build a digital repository as a source of learning for the future.&nbsp; The Virtual Museum Platform Living Waters Museum is a research project based at the Centre for Heritage Management, Ahmedabad University and it is also a founder member of the Global Network of Water Museums, endorsed by UNESCO’s International Hydrology Program in 2018. workshops and field visits. Collective discussion, interpretation and exploration helped in the emergence of various categories and themes. In the end these themes and categories of interpretation were converted into visual presentation and a prototype exhibition was set up.
